The ultimate resources for a dynamic profession
The Publishing Department of the American Library Association provides all librarians a comprehensive, one-stop resource for print and digital materials dedicated to professional development, improving library services, and the promotion of libraries, literacy, and reading. All Net Revenues from subscriptions and product purchases are invested in the financial support of ALA’s goals and initiatives. The Department consists of 5 imprints: American Libraries magazine and associated electronic products; ALA Editions; ALA Graphics; ALA Online Resources (including ALA TechSource and Guide to Reference), and Booklist Publications (including Booklist, Book Links, and Booklist Online).
ALA Publishing’s expanding role in electronic publications is dedicated to meeting users wherever they may be when a need arises.

- Guide to Reference—Authoritative online source of first resort with essential print and web reference resources.
- Resource Description and Access (RDA) —forthcoming
- Booklist magazine—The review magazine of the American Library Association for collection development and readers’ advisory; 8000+ recommended-only reviews annually.
- Book Links, a quarterly supplement to Booklist magazine, connects children with high-quality books and media. This selection and curriculum-development tool is published each October, January, March, and June.
- Booklist Online—Expanding the reach of Booklist magazine with a combination of free content and a subscription database of reviews and other features.
